Challenge Level: $12.00/student

Technique Tournament is a non-competitive event in which students are critiqued and rated on their technical skills. A student may enter any level.  From that level he/she is required to play three scales, three matching arpeggios, and one etude. Students may repeat levels at the teacher’s discretion. 

Students receive written criticism and a certificate of proficiency.

A special award is given to students who receive a Superior rating, and additional rewards will be presented to students who successfully perform scales in rhythmic variation.

Technique Tournament booklets are emailed to LAMTA members each year. However, you do not have to be a LAMTA member to participate. If you would like to receive a printed copy or more information about Technique Tournament, please contact one of the chairpersons.

Technique Tournament is sponsored by Lafayette Area Music Teachers Association and The School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is opened to all piano teachers in the Lafayette Area. Membership in LAMTA is NOT required to participate.
